1947 Model Singer Featherweight 221 in Almost Perfect Condition. Be the STAR at your quilting club when you set up one of my Featherweights plus it\'s a scroll face!

This fabulous Featherweight has been cleaned in and out, oiled, greased & timed (well serviced). Drip pad that catches any oil or grease from servicing in the bottom cover is without odor, old oil will give off a strong smell that\'s not a problem. Bobbin case, rotary hook, hand wheel & motor pulley checked for embedded thread and removed. Wiring and plug on foot controller checked and deemed safe. Singer Light works & V style drive belt has many years left. Thread tension adjusted for medium weight fabric, if you need to re-adjust for different weight fabrics or heavier thread see manual included.

 

I don\'t just service my machines I totally go over all parts and inspect, and adjust if necessary. I take pride in my work like the men and women back in the day that manufactured them at the factory in New Jersey.

This vintage gem has been detailed, cleaned in and out. I even clean the dirt from screw heads! The clear coat had some scratches and a few nicks, some of the decals were also worn. All the old dirty clear coat on sewing surface and only the worn decals were removed. I replaced the worn decals with fresh new ones. Then applied 3 or more coats of very durable clear coat over the entire painted surfaces of the machine, that will preserve the original decals plus the new ones . This machine was is such good condition that I hated to make too many changes to it.

I start with only the highest quality machines and cases that I can find and then make them perform to their best, then enhance or restore their cosmetic beauty. She has gotten her 5000 mile tune up or face lift. This machine is also one of the best that I have acquired in months.

It shows signs that it had been well maintained though the years. Motor has been checked out and cleaned inside near armature to make sure that brushes make perfect electrical contact, old dried grease in grease tubes of motor has been removed and replaced with new synthetic lube, brushes have been cleaned, internal wiring is safe. If at times there are any problems with motor turning the machine, just loosen the side screw that holds motor to bracket and slide motor up or down until it sew correctly, if the belt is too tight or loose will effect how the machine runs. See last pages of manual for adjustments to belt.
Foot controller also cleaned, adjusted for speed and checked for safety This is a common problem with vintage machines, most are not aware of the fire and shock hazards from the worn wires that they are sewing with. Foot controller feet are in good condition. Runs and sews perfectly-makes a beautiful stitch.

Scroll Face Plate & needle plate has been polished.

Ready to go to her new home. Just remember to use the manual included for how and when to lubricate (about every 8 hours of use) and for directions for using the attachments. Other manuals are available on line from other websites and worth downloading for future use.

Carry Case show very light wear for it\'s age. No musty smell. The interior and exterior of case has been cleaned and touched up has a few scuff marks, the interior has been sealed to keep it fresh and clean. This case is strong and durable. Includes one case key.
As you will read on many Featherweight websites, no matter how strong your carry case and handle are, always support it from underneath with your other hand while carrying. They are vintage!

This beautiful Featherweight has all of it\'s attachments, plus a quilting seem guide, 6 bobbins, and a solid strong carry case. The original case handle is leather wrapped in great shape, most of the leather handles are in pretty bad condition and wrapped with electrical tape, this one is 99% intact. Also includes original user manual.

I would advise to use the new odorless oil Singer makes, and use my lube for motor tubes and gears, you can order a lubricant filled applicator that will actually fit into to the motor tubes from my store (see photo 15) below. It can also be used on the gears. The gear and motor lubricant that Singer® makes and sells come in an applicator that will not fit into your motor tubes, still can be used on gears only. The old ones are not odorless and degraded over the years. Never oil the motor, use synthetic (non petroleum based) grease (lube). Remember to unplug machine when not in use, while changing needles or thread for safety reason. One slight slip of your foot on the foot control is all it takes! Yes, light bulb does get hot!

This Great Featherweight is a true Quilters Dream! Will serve you well for many years to come. Serial Number is AG991533 a 1947 made in Elizabethport, New Jersey USA to last forever. This is a vintage sewing machine, it has some light wear as expected, and a few dimples and a few light scratches on sewing surface that have been minimized by buffing and sealer.
