Gulab Khan

I always sell my badges in good faith, I will only list them as genuine if I am 100% sure it is. Likewise, if I know it is a restrike, I will list it as such. I take care to send all items in the condition buyers expect, and all items posted are the items in the photographs. From time to time, accidents/mistakes can happen. Please let me know if there are any problems.

I endeavour to post items out on the same or the next day after payment. I use Royal Mail, and there have been some delays due to industrial action. Thank you in advance for your understanding and patience. I always retain proof of postage.

In respect of payments, I do not mind giving people a few days to make payment. However, after 4 days, if payment is not forthcoming and there has been no contact, I will cancel the order.

Unless stated, I post all items Royal Mail 2nd Class. If you need something sooner, let me know, and I will upgrade your postage at cost.

Where there are multiple postage costs, I always combine them.

Ref 4519

Each element of the design of the penny has a special meaning.

Britannia is shown respectfully bowing to the named individual. Her left hand is granting a wreath of leaves, symbolic of triumph, onto a rectangular tablet bearing the full name of the deceased

No rank is shown in the named tablet as it was intended that no distinction be made between the sacrifice made by officers and other ranks. At the very base of the plaque, a lion, a symbol of British power, is shown defeating the eagle, a symbol of central powers.

Two dolphins represent Britain’s naval power.

The stylised oak leaves are symbolic of the distinction of the fallen individual.

He ‘Died for freedom and honour’ was a compulsory element of the design competition.

A lion is shown ‘Striding forward in a menacing attitude’, symbolising British strength.
