Hancock 4700 air whistle 1950 TRAIN HORN with STEAM WHISTLE SOUND for your TRUCK:
$1862.99

This HANCOCK 4700 AIR WHISTLE was made in the 1950\'s to sound like a STEAM WHISTLE. These are LOUD and can WHOOP like a steam whistle, but they run on air. They were used on early diesel locomotives.
This is a great item for a truck. Sounds great! This will turn heads and get smiles! Not as blaring as an air horn. Your buddies will hear you coming and know it is you!
To hear this whistle, Google Hancock 4700 sound samples to get to the 5 Chime Consultants website
According to the 5 chime consultants,
Hancock is perhaps best known for their steam whistles, such as the \"steamboat\" whistles on Union Pacific 844 and 3985, SP 4449, Frisco 1522, and N&W 611. The Hancock type 4700 was an air whistle intended for use on diesel locomotives that simulated, as much as possible, the sound of a steam whistle. The whistles were used extensively by New Haven, Seaboard, and Minneapolis Northfield & Southern, as well as a number of shortlines.
The whistle could be ordered with or without the bowl-shaped reflector. Without a reflector, the whistle wascatalogedas a type 4710.
Original tuning was: A major triad (E, A, C#)
Though pleasant to hear, the 4700 was not as loud and commanding as most airhorns. Difficult to hear at speed, the whistle eventually fell out of favor, and production ceased about the middle of the 1960\'s. The last large user was the Minneapolis Northfield & Southern, and with their merger into the Soo Line, the whistles were soon removed. Some Hancock 4700\'s can still be heard on shortline and industrial locomotives.
Overall size is 17 3/16 wide, 18 inches deep, and 11 inches tall. The whistle is 4 1/8 inches in diameter. The inlet is a 3/4 inch diameter threaded hole corresponding to 1/2 inch pipe thread NPT. The mounting flange is 4 inches in diameter with 4 clearance holes for 1/2 inch bolts. The centers of the bolt holes are on a 3 inch diameter bolt circle. Total weight of the whistle with the aluminum cowling is 31 pounds.
Holiday Returns until December 31, 2014. Great for the man who has everything, \'cause he doesn\'t have this! Ships internationally! Good luck with your offer! This whistle has a heavy 18 pound wood box for shipping, but it can be packed in a lighter cardboard box for shipping if requested.
