---THIS IS CRAZY COOL it is an original SCHOOL REGISTER from Springfield Massachusetts. the large book itself was produced due to a change in the commonwealth of Mass. Statute of 1845 chap. 157. which required register books instead of single sheets of paper. and it started in 1846. WELL this is just such a book. it is from the Principle CALEB B BOWERS (i have a lot of his school books also on ) and is hand written with the students names, attendance, absences, etc. It is from Grammer School District 1, it is a total of 40 pages. This book covers the period starting feb 26th 1849 and goes for 22 weeks, i believe it lists all the kids in teh school, it is about half filled in. as shown, discolor on cover,
it is an amazing piece of history. i just LOVE IT. i have 3 of these in total, listed individually, all different. scale behind the item is in inches
