P.H. Leonard (PHL) Porcelain, Limoges Antique Plate, Circa 1890’s-1915.
P.H. Leonard, an import company, was based in NYC. The company imported porcelain from Germany and Limoges during the 1890’s until the years of the First World War. The Leonard mark can be found on marked white-ware blanks which were factory decorated according to designs of Leonard.
This lovely sculptured cabinet plate is transfer decorated with a gold sponge marks and heavy gold encrusted blossoms on leaf laden stems. The outer edge (2”) is nearly transparent, with the center section (thicker) generating a blue tint.
The markings are: LIMOGES, PHL, FRANCE and LIMOGES, (arrow sign), FRANCE.
