RARE HTF 1950S LARGE PLASTIC Valentine Car Candy Container E ROSEN, ROSBRO 7.5\" For Sale

This listing is for a scarce, hard to find, Valentine Car candy container. The car is in the style of the \"Gay 90\'s\". This was the decade 1890-1899. Things were moving at that time, with cars coming into being, and bicycles. People were enamored of both, and were quite \"gay\" (the definition being the happy version). Anyway, this car is from the 1950\'s, and was created by the E. Rosen, Rosbro, Tico group of companies. E. Rosen is a candy company that started in 1911 in Rhode Island. They really took off in the 1940\'s, when Styrene became readily available as a commercial raw material. Styrene is hard plastic. They bought 2 companies, and ran them as wholly owned subsidiaries - Rosbro and Tico. They shared their plastic candy containers across all three companies, so there are various configurations and colors for all their designs. This one is the base, early configuration of the car. Later on, they made this car smaller, and the same size with bunnies. I know there are probably other configurations, but those are the ones that I have seen.
Styrene becomes really brittle as it ages, so all of their candy containers are becoming harder and harder to find in this condition. For the most part, the little headlights, lanterns and steering wheel are missing.
This one has all it\'s pieces and parts in good condition, but does have a break to the plastic covering the axle on the bottom on the front. Perhaps someone (a child?) tried to remove the wheels, and broke the plastic. Also, there are a few age \"spots\" which may be dirt, but probably are slight wear to the paint.
This car is really gorgeous. The car is red and white plastic. The people are painted over pink and yellow plastic. The paint on the people is great, with just a few tiny age spots.
The car is big - 7.5 inches long, and 6 inches tall. There is a 2 inch rectangle on the back as the \"boot\", where you can put the candy.
I have quite a few other Rosen Rosbro Tico candy containers for sale, so take a peek! I try and buy only those that are in good condition.
