RARE Original WWII USS Pennsylvania (BB-38) Pearl Harbor Attack Battleship Row :
$637.50

Comes with C.O.A.

For sale is a rare and historically significant museum-grade original WWII USS Pennsylvania (BB-38) ships menu dated August 30th, 1939. This menu is particularly noteworthy because it was issued just two years before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941, which marked the United States' entry into WWII. This program is in excellent condition, with minimal wear and tear. By May of 1941 the USS Pennsylvania was docked near Ford Island and Pearl Harbor’s East Loch anchorage.

The USS Pennsylvania was moored at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on December 7th, 1941, when the Japanese attacked occurred. It was one of eight battleships stationed at the naval base at the time, and was moored in berth F-6, along Battleship Row. At the end of the day, Pennsylvania's crew suffered 15 men gone (including the executive officer), 14 missing, and 38 wounded.

During the attack, the USS Pennsylvania was hit by several bombs and suffered significant damage. However, it was not as severely affected as some of the other battleships, such as the USS Arizona, which was completely destroyed in the attack. The USS Pennsylvania was able to get underway and sortie out of the harbor later that day, thanks to the efforts of its crew and damage control parties.

After the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941, the USS Pennsylvania was repaired and returned to service. It participated in numerous operations during the war, including the Battle of the Coral Sea, the Battle of Midway, the Gilbert and Marshall Islands campaign, and the Philippines campaign. The USS Pennsylvania also served as the flagship for Admiral Chester Nimitz, Commander in Chief of the Pacific Fleet, during the war.

It played a significant role in the Pacific Theater during WWII, participating in numerous operations and earning a total of nine battle stars.
