A 4 3/4\" talllightSUN COLORED AMETYST rectangular-shaped antique SEWING MACHINE OIL bottle. Talk about a FULLY EMBOSSED bottle, this bottle is crammed full of embossing, all 4 SIDES of it are embossed. This is a rare brand (WILLCOX GIBBS) AND it is an early PANELED STYLEbottle, an ORIGINAL ANTIQUE hand Blown Into Mold bottle (BIM) with a tooled top, dating back to themid - late 1800\'s.
- Bottle embossed: \"WILLCOX & GIBBS / SEWING MACHINE - BEST MACHINE OIL / PUT UP / EXPRESSLY FOR - BROADWAY - NEW YORK\".
- Condition: Bottle is in good solid condition. It has content stain and age wear, including some small nicks, impact marks, scrapes, and manufacturing flaws as it is a crude early bottle. Otherwise there isn\'t anything specifically wrong with it, no cracks, chips, dings, etc. Please see photos for better idea of overall condition.
- Age: An ORIGINAL ANTIQUE hand-blown bottle (Blown-In-Mold = BIM) with a tooled-top, ca. mid - late1800\'s.

A crude looking old bottle and the most FULLY embossed example of a SEWING MACHINE OIL bottle that we\'ve ever seen.It is hard to imagine that it had a paper label on it anywhere as it would cover the embossing no matter where it was! We\'ve handled many sewing machine oil bottles over the years and this is the ONLY ONE OF THESE Willcox & Gibbs BRANDthat we\'ve EVERseen, before or after we found this one. We dug it up ourselves decades ago and kept it in our collection since we\'d never seen another one. This is the style of bottle that was used to bottle oils, extracts, scents, and medicines, during the civil war era and into the latter half of the 1800\'s, these paneled type bottles. This is a crude early example and it also has the light purple amethyst tint whichnot only makes it a nice color to look at but also authenticates it as a truly antique bottle, check it out!
