Rare 1976 AFRICAN TALKING DRUM & BEAT STICK TRIBAL ARTISAN HANDMADE GHANA AFRICA:
$89.00

OCTOBER 16: GREAT NEW LOWER PRICE!

Vintage 1976 AFRICAN 2 SIDED TALKING DRUM and BEAT STICK TRIBAL ARTISAN HANDMADE

Made in GHANA, AFRICA.

Hand carved and hand made by a tribal village artisan in GHANA, AFRICA in 1976.

Great for Burning Man or a Tribal Drum Circle.

Drum center is made of hand-carved light Ghanaian wood (as is the beat stick) and has a natural finish with what looks like a elongated small letter "r" on the side of the wood near the top of the drum.

Condition:  Pre-Owned, essentially unused, Excellent.

Never been on display.

Please review the description and photos to be decide for yourself how you would assess the quality of this item as I am not an expert.

Weight: 1 pound, 11 ounces. (combined drum and beat stick).

Drum Dimensions:

Base and Top (both ends): 8-1/4" inches diameter

Length from end to end 15-1/2" inches tall

Beat Stick:  Approximately 11" inches tall from end to top of the curve.

The drum pads on both ends are made of natural animal skin.

The dark area on one of the animal skin drum pads is natural within the animal skin and not a stain or wear area.

The cords going around the drum vertically are held in place by hand made eyelets around the perimeter of the drum pads on both ends.

The cord is made of natural leather and has a now faint natural red dye as it has faded over time.

There is a knotted cord around the middle of the vertical pieces.

All cords are naturally knotted.

There is no metal used within the drum or the beat stick.

I acquired this in the summer of 1976 during a lengthy stay in West Africa as a young boy.

I have been the sole owner.

Has always been in an odor-free and smoke-free climate controlled dark storage facility to maintain its excellent condition for over 45 years.

Please consult the internet for a comprehensive tutorial regarding the ways in which this drum can produce an endless sound and pitch to the beats, how to hold it, and how to utilize the beat stick properly.

It truly sounds incredible.

Please note this piece is over 45 years old and I feel it is not intended for intense continued use unless properly inspected, fortified, enriched, and restored by an expert of such vintage, tribal pieces of musical art and craftsmanship.

It is being sold as-is and should be considered as vintage and cared for and handled accordingly.
