This is a full sixth plate image case featuring the famed \"$10 Gold Coin\" design, listed in Berg\'s reference as number 1-70, Very Rare...with less than 60 examples in existence. We would not hesitate to say that the surviving number after 150 plus years is likely even lower than that! As you can see, the case is in excellent overall condition with just a couple of trivial corner nicks (see pics). The \"gold coin\" design (actually a good replica of the reverse of the then-current $10 Liberty gold) is gilt on one side of the case but uncolored on the other, as made (see pics). The interior has colorful purplish velvet and the original brass frame, mat and glass. Excellent for any collection, or to house a treasured vintage daguerreotype, ambrotype or tintype.
