Signed Royal Crown NC Pottery Hands on Hips Vase EX Rare Mirror Black Glaze For Sale

Up for sale is this nice BIG \"hands on hips\" or \"twist\" handle NC Pottery vase. It has the remnants of the circular Royal Crown Pottery ink stamp on the bottom. The stamp is virtually unreadable, but if you\'re seen as many as I have, it\'s easily verified by the size of the stamp and the clay they used. As many of you know, Royal Crown was only in business for about 4 years. This hands on hips shape is known from a couple of the Cole\'s shops, as well as from North State and Smithfield. We think the vase was turned by either Thurston Cole or Charlie Craven, circa 1940. This is the first one I have ever seen marked Royal Crown, but what is really rare is that it is the only Royal Crown pot that I or any of my peers can recall ever seeing in a black glaze. This vase stands 10\" tall with an 8\" wingspan across the handle. It is covered in a spectacular Mirror Black glaze. It is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, flakes, or crazing. It does have a few small glaze pops to the lower body, but that is to be expected on an old wood fired pot. Vase ships USPS Priority OR Parcel Select (Economy) Insured Mail, your choice.
