VINTAGE FEDERAL SIGN & SIGNAL - CHROME “BULLET” FIRE TRUCK SIREN - MODEL Q2B 12v For Sale

Description:

-Youare offerding on a vintage used fire truck siren, made by Federal Sign &Signal Corp. of Blue Island, Illinois. It is their Model Q2B, and it has a cool“bullet” chrome style, with the “F” Federal logo built into the front grille. This is a great item for the serious firetruck collectors out there!

-(This old siren of mine has beenrelisted due to non-payment of the original sale- Enjoy!)

-Thesiren is ~13.5” long, with the circular siren housing being about 10” indiameter, with a 4.5” logo on the front. The unit stands about 10.75” tall.

-Pleasenote:

Ihave tested this siren using a 12v power source, and was unable to get the unitto function.

-Assuch, this unit is offered in “As Is” condition for the purposes of display orrestoration.

Condition:

-This siren has certainlybeen used, and so does show some overall wear, as well as some aging to thechrome finish:

The front “cowl”piece has dents along ~ ½ of the overall circumference of the unit, as well asa pair of cracks to this same piece ~1” long each.

There is a sideflashing/trim “lattice” piece which has been pushed out-of-position fromseveral of the dents to the aforementioned piece, and so this piece is bent inseveral areas and out of alignment

There are dentsand scratches on the unit, as well as areas of moderate “pitting” the surfaceof the chrome here and there.

There is somemoderate rusting/oxidation visible to the inner “turbine” blades when lookingthrough the front grille

There are somerust spots left over on the top of the base-piece, from the old bolts whichhave been removed

The rubber gasketwhich seals the top piece to the base is old and cracked

-Overall,the siren still displays very well, and would be a great addition to anyserious fire truck collection!
