VTG Fabienne Jouvin of Paris, Cloisonne Canister Lid Copper/Enamel Suzani TALL For Sale

This decorative Tea Canister is one of 3 in a set I bought this at an estate sale. Stunning artistry and workmanship. The set came from a very affluent household in the San Francisco, near Stanford University. I\'m sure it was purchased in Paris.

This sale is for the tallest of the 3 canisters, only. The final photo is of the complete set, which I included so you can see how they look together, and compare their sizes.

The artist is a talented Frenchwoman named Fabienne Jouvin. Her work is highly collectible and well regarded, although it\'s difficult to find, and very expensive. To see how much her pieces are admired, just glance at Pinterest; she\'s all over it. Jouvin and European stores call these items Tea Canisters or Tea Jars.

The artist named this sunburst red, orange, and black design \"Ouzbek\", but I think it more resembles Suzani pattern. Jouvin is a devotee of Asian cloisonne, and uses a similar technique. She starts with a base of copper, and builds outlines of her designs with copper strips or wires. The divided areas are then filled with colorful enamel and baked. It\'s a labor intensive process, reflected in the price.

Since this is a vintage pattern from several years ago, it\'s harder to get and more detailed than most of the work Jouvin does now-- these days she\'s more into porcelain. Online prices for this size of canister --if you can find one-- range from $500 to $675.

This canister is 13 1/2 inches tall.

The diameter is 5 1/2 inches.
