Rare 1929 Wedgwood Vassar College CommemorativePlate - made in England.This transferware platemeasures approximately 10 1/4" across, and has an ivory background with blue images. The plate hasa decorative border, with a centralimagefeaturing the Main Building on the Vassar College campus. The back ofthis plate carries following inscription and manufacturer'smark: "Vassar College 1929 -- Main Building in 1865 -- Wedgwood - Etruria, England -- SoleImporters - Jones, McDuffee & Stratton - Boston". The Wedgwood impressions/incisions are also present.
Thisplate is in excellent condition - no chips, cracks, repairs, stains or marks anywhereon this item. Some fine, light crazing in the clear coat glaze, but it is barely noticeable and too faint to capture in a photo. Most viewers would never notice it.
