A vintage 1979 Peavey T-40 bass guitar. ash body, maple neck. It\'s been restored back to playing condition and is ready to go. Serial number 00475322. Pots are dated 1979.
Pickups are completely original. Under the pickguard, the three-way switch is not original and neither is the mini-switch. two of the pots were dead, so the inside part of the pot was replaced and reassembled. Everything works fine now and the wiring was gone over according to an original schematic. the electronics are clean and sound great.
The bridge was missing its saddles. I mounted some non-original chrome saddles that work great. the mounting screws thread into where the original strings went through the body. Now it\'s a top loader. If you have an original set of saddles, they can be put on with little effort. the action and intonnation is good.
there is a split in the body at the back that is stable (see pic #10). There is a hole near the neck pocket where someone added an extra strap button. the pickguard is warped, but functional. There are some pickguard screws broken off in the body. Pickup surrounds are original, but some of the screws and springs are replacements. The original ones were rusted beyond repair. There\'s a stain on the back of the body that can be sanded out. The original foil shielding in the cavity was corroded and falling apart, so I just removed it all. The mechanism for tilting the neck angle in the neck pocket works.
The neck is straight with a small amount of relief for good action. The truss rod works. The frets are low, but playable. The nut is original. The tuning pegs are original. There is a stable crack near the Low E tuner. There is a small amount of damage at the high G tuner where it dug into the back of the neck because the tuning peg was loose. It\'s not a problem now since the tuning peg was tightened down.
This guitar has new strings and plays well. It weighs 11.5 pounds. The neck scale is 34 inches. Buyer pays $30 shipping. International shipping will be about $80-110. No case. I may take the neck off for shipping, especially international. -Fred.
