This listing is for a gilt bronze Russian bear statue dating to the late 19th century. As can be seen in the photos the casting of this bronze appears better than most. The details in the facial features, the fur, right down to the pads and claws, its really outstanding. It rests on a malachite plinth which shows two small chips as well as what looks like some replacement work on one of the rounded edges. The base measures 8 inches by 3-3/8 inches and is just under 2 inches in height. The bear itself is in excellent condition with the exception of some scattered spots of rubbing to the gilt. (#4935)
