Here is an antique early 19th Century carved Briar wood pipe which is of much larger size than you would normally see...the bowl is 6 inch long x 3 inch dia on the bulbous part.. the mouth is 1 and half inch dia .
The style is Bavarian and similar to the much older meerschaum pipes I have had from the 18th Century of this shape with the silver metal tops etc.
The bowl is cracked in places.. and where the stem fits into the bowl there is a brass staple here.. its over the top of a natural wood crack.. its not cracked lately ..its been done years.
The stem is made of different materials.. wood and polished cow horn and a metal gauze like material on the widest part.. this is a little damaged.
The pipe is 18 inch long overall.See close up pictures for more details and condition.
