This cast iron soap dish certainly has a lot to say; the bottom of the soap dish is embossed lettering and reads as follows "G.H. Laxton's Chicago Soap Dish Pat. SEP 86" and "TO HANG UP ON WALL PAIL WASH TUBS BATH". This is a very rare, unique and very cool piece of history.The dish has 4 feet so if place on a horizontal surface it remains elevated. If hung on a wall it will hold soap and still be held away from the wall. If held vertically the the top foot is longer than the other three, so it could hang on the lip of a tub or sink. Quite an ingenious design from the 1880s
Measures 4-1/4" x 4" x 2-1/2". Is in clean and excellent condition. The inside of the dish has an aged patina and is not rusted
