This PENCIL SIGNED ORIGINAL WOODCUT ENGRAVING is a RARE FIND with only one other being sold in the last 10 years. LEE MERO 1885-1977 was known for being a SUCCESSFUL COMMERCIAL ARTIST and ILLUSTRATOR of CHRISTMAS GREETING CARDS. He made HIGHLY COMPLEX WOODCUT ENGRAVINGS that took a VERY HIGH SKILL LEVEL. This ANTIQUE PIECE was done in 1920 and is entitled " THE WELCOME". Measuring 21" wide by 15 1/4" high, it FEATURES a WINTER SCENE with HORSES, COACH, COACHMEN, a DOG, TRUNK and PEOPLE. The IMAGE AREA is 16 1/4" wide by 10 1/4" high. The LOWER RIGHT HAND CORNER of this ENGRAVING is SIGNED by LEE MERO. As a designer, I love the COLOR PALETTE and the fact that each WOODCUT ENGRAVING is done by the hand of the artist and varies. It is FRAMED which has protected this wonderful piece.
