Fleming was a druggist in Pittsburg, PA that sold whiskey. Originally doing business as Jos Fleming the name was changed to Jos. Fleming & Son when his son George partnered with him. The business was family owned from 1858 - 1912. George Fleming assumed leadership of the Jos. Fleming & Son company following Joseph\'s death in 1890. George featured gifts to prime customers such as shot glasses and paperweights. Following George\'s death in 1912 family members sold the business; however, the new owners continued to operate under the Fleming name until closure in 1920. The company closed in 1920 due to prohibition and did not reopen.
For sale is a very nice advertising paperweight from this era.
