COONSKIN STREETFIGHT ANIMATION ART: ORIGINAL RALPH BAKSHI PRODUCTION CELS Signed:
$799.99

Purchased from Ralph Bakshi and autographed in the early 2000's. I have kept in protective archival plastic for 15+ years. Two original production cel layers over color copy background from the 1975 film "Coonskin" later retitled "Streetfight". These cels are very hard to find, this image in particular was used for the Supreme clothing brand T-Shirt in 2008.

From The Supreme Museum social media page:"Using the work of Ralph Bakshi from the movie "Coonskin" for this collaboration back in 2008, the pair teamed up to release a collection of longsleeves that would feature stills from the film. "Coonskin" was a cartoon in which the main characters were animals and would bring a satirical take on the blaxploitation films that were heavily released in the 1970's which would depict black people in the most stereotypical ways. A ton of controversy surrounded the film due to many deeming it as "racist", even though larger studios had been releasing live action films with the same content and they were met with little concern."

from Wikipedia:Coonskin is a 1975 American adult written and directed by Ralph Bakshi, about an African American rabbit, fox and bear who rise to the top of the organized crime racket in Harlem, encountering corrupt law enforcement, con artists, and the Mafia. The film, which combines live-action with animation, stars Philip Thomas, Charles Gordone, Barry White, and Scatman Crothers, all of whom appear in both live-action and animated sequences.

Originally produced under the titles Harlem Nights and Coonskin No More... at Paramount Pictures, Coonskin encountered controversy before its original theatrical release when the Congress of Racial Equality criticized the content as being racist. When the film was released, Bryanston gave it limited distribution and it initially received mixed reviews. Later re-released under the titles Bustin' Out and Street Fight, Coonskin has since been re-appraised. A New York Times review said, "Coonskin could be Ralph Bakshi's masterpiece."[1] Bakshi has stated that he considers Coonskin to be his best film.[2]
