This listing is for a reprint image of the Carpathia, sinking in the Celtic Sea, after being torpedoed on July 17, 1918 , by the German U-boat, U-55.

This image is not perfect~ it is a bit grainy and out of focus.
I have to assume that it was taken by one of the crew of the ship that resued Carpathia's crew and passengers, HMS Snowdrop.

if you look for pics of Carpathia sinking, that indicates this is a made-upphoto...morethan one individual has brought thisup.....soseller beware. There is a photo, much further away that shows the C sinking and is attributed to the sub that torpedoed the ship. The give-aways on your pic, is that there is no damage where the ship was struck by the 3 torpedos, that all lifeboats are firmly lashed ON the ship....passengers WERE discharged all off the ship at this point of thesinking....andthat the flags/smoke indicate the ship is moving atspeed...whereas at this point in the sinking she was hove-to. No problem for me as it adds to the legend of theevent.
