Exquisite Paragon China VINTAGE Queen Elizabeth II Coronation Teacup & Saucer:
$249.99

\"Throughout all my life and with all my heart I shall strive to be worthy of your trust.\"
Those were the words of Queen Elizabeth II, uttered via radio broadcast to the Commonwealth on the eve of her Coronation on June 2, 1953. This Coronation was unlike any preceding it - it was the first to be televised, bringing the opulence of Westminster Abbey to the world. In Britain alone, over 27 million people watched the historic ascension of the modern day female monarch while over 2,000 journalists from over 90 countries captured the event along the Coronation route.
Commemorating the regal and eventful day, Paragon China of England - who\'d received Royal Warrants (aka an invaluable endorsement) from Queen Mary, the Queen Mother and Queen Elizabeth due to the exquisite quality of their bone china - crafted this amazing tea cup and saucer set.
The delicate, wavy rim of the saucer and cup are lined with gold, popping against the fine white china, accentuating the delicate light blue, grey and white scrollwork found on both. Her Majesty\'s royal cypher, \"E II R,\" meaning \"Elizabeth II Regina\" appears on the cup and saucer in three areas, with a stylized version of St. Edwards Crown above it.
Central in both plate and saucer is a golden band encircling a bouquet of green-leafed pink, purple and yellow blooms - possibly clover, thistle, daffodils and more. The elegant, curving handle of the tea cup is embellished with gold along its sides and top while a golden ring edges the pedestaled base. The bottom of both pieces bare the Paragon China stamp while the saucer provides additional Coronation details.
Measuring 5.5\" in diameter, the saucer is in incredible shape. The tea cup, standing just under 2.25\" beholds a faint touch of faded grey vining on the interior cup toward the rim (please see pics), however, this decades old beauty is without crack, chip or crazing.
